One of my very favorite tv shows of all time is The Andy Griffith Show (B&W).  I could watch this show everyday and never get old.

Here is a great episode from Season 5.  Episode 7 "Man in the Middle".  Originally aired on CBS TV November 2nd 1964

The 3 Year Old Horse of the Year in 1964 and considered one of the greatest sires in the history of thoroughbred racing.  He is an ancestor of all the Triple Crown winners of 2009 (Mine That Bird, Rachel Alexandra and Summer Bird).


#2 - Monarchos - 2001 1:59.97
Only the 2nd (and to date last) horse to ever break the 2 minute barrier in the Derby



#1 - Secretariat - 1973 1:59.40
Considered by many the greatest race horse of all time and the first horse to break the 2 minute barrier at the Derby.  He went on to win the Preakness and Belmont for 1973 making him the first horse since 1948 to win the Triple Crown.

35th Academy Awards

April 8th 1963 the Academy Awards honored the year of 1962 in film at Santa Monica’s Civic Auditorium in Los Angeles, California.
Seven Oscars including the #1 award for Best Picture went to Lawrence of Arabia (Sam Spiegel, producer) at Santa Monica’s Civic Auditorium (Los Angeles). The epic production earned Oscars for David Lean (Best Director); Freddie Young (Best Cinematography/Color); John Box, John Stoll, & Dario Simoni (Best Art Direction/Set Decoration/Color); John Cox with Shepperton SSD (Best Sound); Anne V. Coates (Best Film Editing); Maurice Jarre (Best Music/Score - Substantially Original).
Ol’ Blue Eyes, Frank Sinatra hosted the festivities honoring the films of 1962 (including the film Sinatra starred in, The Manchurian Candidate.) Other notable films of that year including some award winners, and some not: Taras Bulba, Mutiny on the Bounty, Walk on the Wild Side, The Longest Day, The Music Man, The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance, Birdman of Alcatraz.
