The Gipper and The Bambino

Today Feb 6th marks the anniversary of the birth of 2 legendary americans with the 40th President of the United States Ronald Reagan and the greatest Yankee of them all George Herman "Babe" Ruth.
Ronald Wilson Reagan was born on this day in 1911 in Tampico IL.
He became a well known actor before turning his attention to politics and was elected Governor of California in 1967 and serving 2 terms. He ran unsuccessfully for the republican nomination for president against President Gerald Ford.
He was elected President in 1980 defeating the incumbent President Jimmy Carter. He then won reelection in 1984 with a landslide victory over former Carter VP Walter Mondale.

George Herman "Babe" Ruth was born in Baltimore Md and grew up in a orphange and reformatory and made his way to major league baseball as a pitcher. A very good pitcher for the Boston Red Sox it was soon discovered how good a hitter he was and his pitching days were over and he was on his way to baseball immortality. He was sold to the struggling New York Yankees and soon was the biggest drawing card in american sports. He held the record for most home runs in a season with 60 until 1961 and the most career home runs with 714 until yesterday's birthday celebrant Henry "Hank" Aaron passed him in 1974 on his way to 755 career home runs.
